Managing Candidate Expectations

As you begin interacting with candidates on the platform, it is a best practice to be clear and direct with candidates throughout the entire process, from inviting a candidate to apply through to job completion.

Communication
  • Be clear about your expectations, timeline, role requirements, and critical factors for success in the role. Doing this before the start of your project will improve your chances for success, in addition to fostering a trusting relationship between you and the candidate.
Be Proactive
  • Anything specific to be negotiated or clarified is best discussed in the interview process so that there are no surprises once the candidate is onboarded.  For example, if critical deadlines are coming up for your project, it's good to make sure that the candidate doesn't have a vacation already planned for that date. A great suggestion is to ask candidates you are interviewing if they have planned vacations you should be aware of to ensure proper alignment and coverage around critical deadlines.
