Preparing for your Consultant

Great news, your project is almost ready to start! Your candidate is finalizing their onboarding tasks with RGP and getting ready to begin. To ensure a successful kick-off of your engagement, we suggest a few tips to help you and the consultant get off to a running start!

Pre-Onboarding Checklist

Building Access

Make sure the candidate is registered with your building and has access for their first day if they will be working on site.  If they need to get a temporary building security pass, it is helpful to arrange for that in advance.

Workspace

If working on site, remember to have a dedicated workspace ready for the consultant to set up including any required materials like a keyboard, mouse or desktop if needed.

Systems Access

Please make sure that you have a computer, tablet or other device available from day 1.  If you require RGP to provide a laptop, please make sure to reach out to your Client Service Team to request one. New consultants, like new employees will need passwords, login details for all relevant systems and should be added to any key email distribution groups and meetings coming up.

Day 1

Meet & Greets

Help accelerate the onboarding for the candidate by scheduling meet and greets with any team members that will be working on the assignment.  Introduce the consultant to other people outside of the group if appropriate and incorporate as part of the team.

Set Expectations

At this point, you have already set some expectations during the interview but it's helpful to reconnect on scope and other expectations again.  Discuss things like day-to-day tasks, critical timelines and deliverables, mandatory meetings, required working hours, preferred communication cadence, etc.

Training

If there is any required documentation, learning platform, or systems knowledge that a candidate needs to familiarize themselves with to be successful, please have that ready.  The more you can get out of the way up front, the faster they will get up to speed and start helping you out!

Ongoing

Schedule reviews

Frequent communication is great.  No formal reviews are needed but setting aside time to discuss how things are going will help everyone.  Your client service team is always happy to help as well.  Feel free to reach out to them any time and they will check in with you too!.
